Hi. I have a lovely Connie. I do lots of stuff on him but I really enjoy showing in hand as well (i think part of it's cos my dead Grandfather was really good at it). I took him out yesterday and he was nutty rearing up, barging me, far too excited. Judge apologised and said he wanted to put me top but cos he was so rude had no choice but to put in 6th - I'm suprised he didn't chuck me out of the class. Next class he said I could show with Chifney - we came first! Obviously i can't be showing in a chifney but he's just awful in his french link which is what I compete him in in everything else. Can anyone think of a bit that might help??? He reallly is a lovely horse to ride but is just silly in hand. It would be a shame to give up.

More experience will probably help more than a bit. Take him to lots of local shows/events so he gets less excited, you dont even have to go in the ring if theres one week without a class- a local hunter trial or something is just as useful so he gets used to the tannoy/other horses/lorries, etc.
