I would like to do a couple of shows with my horse - but in hand stuff.... but the only prob he is a 10 yo lw/mw wh type... does anywhere do any classes he could enter!!!

(and what would i wear!)

dont worry too much on what you wear, I took my oldie in a veterans class with full SJ gear on last weekend!! (out of clashing of classes not down to judgement!). Dark trousers clean boots, shirt and smart waistcoat or jacket (charity shops are great for showing gear!!!).

Sure there must be something you can show him in hand.....is he rideable RC horse, pony club pony etc or can he not be ridden?

Find a show with some fun classes like handsome gelding, or best six legs!!

Agree with the above!! Just look smart and wear short boots!! I tend to wear trousers, tweed jacket, shirt and tie. Or jods and show jacket if I am running out of one ring into the other. They should be looking at the horse NOT the handler and I have seen ponies places champions when the hnadler has worn jeans and trainers.

If its a local show there will be plenty. They tend to do most handsome gelding, open horse, RC horse etc.

Good luck and enjoy it

yes he is rideable... but he is just getting over a tendon injury, so I dont want to go hammering around anything (ie cantering), and thought a bit of in hand showing would get us out, I am bored of being stuck at home with nothing to do... had planned a whole season of eventing - ha i wish!!!

Just another quick thought - I am presuming that I should really plait him up - I have never plaited a horse up properly, and my horse hates his mane being fiddled with. Added to matters (even tho he is 3/4 tb) his mane is like a scrubbing brush and really thick, which if you could plait him doesnt help matters anyway as it all sticks out of the plaits! I was wondering about just running it through with a dog stripper, and hope that would be ok???
