Hello,
I have never done an in-hand show before.
There is a local unaffiliated one this Sunday and I was wondering if any one could please help me choose which class to go in.
The choices are best condition, coloured or competition horse.
Attached is a photo. Which class do you think I will be best suited in entering?
How do I present him? He has a really long mane, do I have to plait it? can I do a french braid or little ones or leave him as he is?
I am going to wear a tweed jacket, shirt, tie, beige jodhpurs, jodhpurs boots. The horse will just have his bridle and reins.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks in advance

Best condition you can show him clean and well groomed with a well cared for loose mane and tail
Coloured the same as long as the class includes dun and buckskins
Competition horse he will need his mane pulled and plaited as a hunter would be so if you want to keep his long mane that one is out
He looks very connieish so maybe an M&M class if he is under 14.2 and the classes are open if he isnt registered as an native

He does look like he'd be okay in an unaffiliated M&M class if he's not too tall.
I know I'm probably stating the obvious here but don't forget to take those rubber bit guards off if you are using that bridle in your class.

I am sorry that I am not going to help with your query .. but I just wanted to say that he is the absolute double of a pony I knew called Peanut! It is totally uncanny ... only thing is Peanut was a mare!!!!

and good luck at the show, he is lovely!!!!
