In-hand Showing Help

I’m a complete newbie to the world of in-hand showing, but am thinking of taking my pony to a few shows for the experience and could do with some help on what to wear.
Is it acceptable to wear breeches or is this a big no no? Pony is bay with dark legs so I understand I should wear light coloured trousers.
I’d only be competing at local riding club level and plan to enter the M&M class.
Any pointers would be appreciated

I have beige trousers, used to wear jodi boots, brown gloves, shirt and tie, some go for a waist coat, or tweed jacket. Hat and plain stick.
