Hi guys,

Well as some of you may know I bought a new girls in Novermber, shes rising 4 and im hoping to do some in hand showing this summer and depending on how her canter comes on maybe some ridden hunter classes.

Could I please see your in-hand hunter and sports horse pics?? just to give me an idea of what i need to get etc, thanks in advance...... S

You may have to check the schedules but most of the in hand sports horse classes tend to be for up to 3 yrs after that i think they are potential sports horses 4yrs plus(Ridden) but may be wrong, if i could find an in hand one for 4 yr olds i would def be taking mine. This is him last year as a 3yr old, we showed him in sports horse classes all season.

Ah hes lovely isnt he, yes I have found that, shes not 4 until the end of May so have found a few local ones to get in before then. Its a shame they dont really isnt it, as shes not really ready for ridden classes yet shes far to lankey and baby like at the mo.

Very nice and would prob aim more on the sports horse side than hunter as she looks quite athletic than hunter type to me. Just to clarify though a horse is considered its birthday to be 1st of Jan of the relevent year for this reason, technically although your girls birthday is not until may she is still classed as a four year old, my guy was born 04/07/06. So unfortunately you wont get away with showing her as a 3 yr old im afraid.

Ah right I didnt know that, can you tell im not a showing girl haha!! Ah well in that case I better get out and concentrate on that canter haha!! thanks for all the advice! S

Its a real pain they go from Jan-Jan, as Norman isn't 4 until August, so the poor bugger will be in welsh A stallion 4 yrs and over against the big boys!!
But I have been told by a few people he's gonna kick ass this year!! Lets hope so :D :D :D

Last year was the first time i showed at county level and it was donkeys years before that so im also fairly new to it, you have to read an awful lot of schedules and the rulings and pages at the front with explainations on as it can be mind boggling, good luck with the show season, im sure the canter will come on in leaps and bounds as soon as you get started with it. Soph21, IMO its much more obvious in horses under 4 which are the later babies, hopefully as a 4yr old he will hold his own much better, so good luck. A lot of the proffesional breeders already have foals on the ground or due within a month or so by this time of the year which can make those later babies look a lot more immature in the showring or at the gradings, during the younger years, hopefully not in your case.
