Next weekend i have my first in-hand show. I have done a bit of preperation with her getting her to stand square and trotting beside me. The weather has taken a turn for the worst so iv not been able to do much with her. She has done some in hand work when she was a youngster so has a rough idea what to do.Im the one who has never donr in-hand before and iv always wanted to show her.Can anyone tell me anything else i should need to know.any advise welcome. below is a pic of her..

I have a small tip... When you run her up make sure you really run and don't sort of jog along. Show her off like shes the best thing there even when the judge is not looking, the judge will notice that. Make sure you stand her up properly too and show her to her best points. Lovely mare, well marked too x

What a pretty mare!

wear cream smart trousers, smart shoes that are easy to run in (often smart trainers are ok, if not jodpur boots are great!) cream/white shirt...... waistcoat (red is quite a popular colour and would look lovely against her!) or a tweed jacket, a tie, hair neatly tied out of the way, and either a navy hat with flesh straps, a beagler or a flat cap style hat. brown gloves and cane

Im guessing you are showing her as a native? so all mane on one side, IMACULATE turn out (duh!) and just obviously groomed to perfection

When you show her, when in the line up, she is stood square (at least the front feet need to be!) when walking round she should be stomping walking like she is really showing off not just plodding along side you, when you stop on the outside of the ring to do trot to the rear.. she is stood square! when you trot round to the rear you have to run as fast as you can without her breaking into canter, if you jog, she will plod and look like a dobbin! if you run fast she will stretch out the trot and look fab! (especially with flowing mane etc!!) then when reach the rear of the line, stand square (even if judge is not looking)

When doing individual show, come out of line up, present her to the judge square, alert!!!! (important! a half asleep horse does not look half as good!!! often hiding a polo in your glove so she will smell it will perk ears etc! or cane by her nose or something helps) then walk away (ensure striaght line) then turn, trot back AT the judge (they will move!!) again as straight as poss!!! trot around the ring then back to the line up and stand square again!

When stood in line up etc do NOT let her relax and pick one hoof up slightly and drop off to sleep, calm is good, out of it is bad!
