We have done a couple of in hand classes with Donovan, and are beginning to think about shows in the summer.
The bigger shows, like Kent county show, Edenbridge and Oxted and the Heathfield show for example, is it okay for the newbies to the showing world to enter, or do you have to have an established showing horse to do these types of shows?

Hi Benson, as long as your pony is registered you can and should enter county shows. Dont feel intimindated you have every right to be there! Look and learn from the professional handlers and go and enjoy yourself!! Your pony looks good enough to hold his own in good company, its up to you not to let him down. Go girl!!

Definitely go for it Benson21. I'm sure they do M&M in hand classes at South of England Show, Ardingly - may have to be there very early though. Have looked at Hickstead's schedule and they only do ridden M&M classes. Will the young man have a rider this year - can't remember how old the little chap is.

Well, he is 4, but not backed yet. We dont have children (other than donovan of course!) but we do have a young girl at our yard that could back him for us, if she stops growing!!!

excited now! Just gotta try and sort his mane! tried to pull it today with no success, so I think a solo comb might be purchased!

What is Donovan? I have a Welsh A that I want to try showing in hand this year. I too am a complete novice at the big boy stuff!

Ah you are just bias - my boy is far more gorgeous ....:D

Basil comes from a family of very high level ribbon winners and I was hoping he would follow suit but as he is a gelding I would not expect him to be coming out on top in the in hand stuff. Can't wait to get my daughter doing her up downs though next year and doing some first ridden with him.

How old is D? Basil is nearly 3.

ok, so we have decided on aiming for some of these bigger shows. Next question is, is what OH wearing ok, other than the purple gloves!

Ds looking georgous.
Sorry I can't help on the turnout. (I'm rubbish at that and have just been told I show Herbs in the wrong outfit :( ) Good luck with the bigger shows. I'm planning on taking Horrid to the new forest show this year  ( Probably just inhand though not shore he'll be ready for ridden classes by then  ) It's a scary thought though and i'll prob whimp out knowing me :o.
I hope you have lots of fun with D you deserve it :)
