I am entering my horse into an in hand veteran showing class next weekend and wanted to ask for turnout Advice. i presume you turn out to type (she would be riding horse). As it’s in hand should I wear riding gear? Should I carry a stick/showing cane?
Any other advice greatly appreciated!
(I’ve done a small amount of showing many years ago so not really sure of the dos and donts!)

Is it affiliated to either the veteran horse society or senior showing and dressage as they both have detailed rules. Generally you would wear smart trousers, short boots, collar, tie, jacket, gloves, cane, hat. I always wear a riding hat with a strap if strap needed under the rules. Quite a few people wear flat caps but I always think they look weird. If you are doing a ridden class and don’t have time to change then wear your riding gear. If you haven’t practice standing your horse up for the judge so that they are not standing square but on The side the judge is looking at the front leg is slightly forward and the hind leg slightly further back so all four legs can be seen. Have fun.
