Rug to reduce the amount of coat to come through, maybe poss clip a small bib IF the gentle work warranted it.
Remember in only October we had some very hot days, so even I was shearing off some front fuzz off Big Fuzzy to ride out. Tho popping a LW rug on overnight as soon as temps went below 10/12.
Big Fuzzy was done exactly the same this winter - rug on to reduce the coat, front end clipped to breathe when working. Got a lovely clean & less thick coat, but I do make sure a good groom with body brush & curry is done very often and that rug is changed or moved every day. We have 2 of each weight rug so enable rug changes often.


I've often rugged natives a little early overnight to reduce the coat level, negating the need for clipping (except for lower parts for work reasons).

Just remember that you wont be able to lob fuzzy out without coats on till the spring arrives - just like with clipped animals.
