No one on here ever knew Chester but if you had met him you would have fallen for him just as I did.A horse with true character,he quickly became my best friend and we had that bond that we all dream of.Frustrating and fantastic in equal measure he truly was unique and was loved by both people and other horses.Always the Boss but in a way that was 'just enough'.Yesterday the dreaded Colic signs were apparent, after meds he improved but went slowly downhill again early its morning. My vet (who was fantastic) tubed him and gave as much pain relief as he could and put him on a drip in the stable.Sadly to no avail, the pain was overwhelming the drugs, pulse and respiration went through the roof and on his advice i had to make that choice we all dread.Chester, who was 26 was put to sleep in his favourite grazing spot at 1pm and buried near where he lay down.I never thought i would write a post like this but doing so has given me some release from the pain of losing my best friend. To all those who have gone through this, my deepest sympathies to you.I now know just how you felt.Goodbye Chessie,i'll miss you mate.xx

Thank you all for your kind words. The whole yard will miss him terribly,he'd been here for 15 years and feels empty this morning but he's still with me and always will be.xx

RIP Chester He sounds a lovely horse
We have a Chester he is 21 and the kindest gentlest full of fun horse you could meet Perhaps its the name!!!
Our Chester has just been diagnosed with early stage Cushings so hoping and praying we can get him sorted and he will carry on for many years to come he is a fabulous ride and loves life.

Best wishes to you and Chester. With careful management a Cushings horse can indeed go on for years.Chessie was great, his fav thing to do was have a flat out blast through the woods. We were due to go today in fact but it wasn't to be.We had a lovely sunny ride last Sunday so at least we ended our time together on a high note.x

So sorry to hear about Chester. I knew and fell for him too. I had the privilege to ride him for 5 years before you took over. Thanks from me for looking after him so well for his last years. You have lost a truly great horse and mate. I know you’re heartbroken. We’ll all miss him. He has a really beautiful resting place and I’m sure we’ll hear him galloping up the Canter Trail for years to come. Love & hugs. A
