In my big bale this week......

These are brilliant in making me laugh but no so cos it's damn dangerous...do you all shake your hay out to put into nets or on floor?...

I have had a door bell, packet of crisps was a usual one, rabbit foot.plastic bottles and some metal wire...all very odd!

I'm really careful filling my haynet now and always shaking any suspicious big clumps vigorously before they go in the net..

Have also had an entire bloated and supperating rabbit left in the banks of my stable bed one day courtesy of the yard dogs. Just the two tips of its ears showing. Had to take it out with my fork to the muck heap...retching from the stench as I went! I'm surprised the horse hadn't moved out overnight.

In a hay bale have had the usual dismembered rabbits. Found a wallet with £2 in a straw bale last year :).

As to stuff in the bed, a few weeks ago found a chicken loving buried in one bed by the local fox, still warm and floppy, minus its head and still oozing slightly.... :D

Usually our big bales are quite good but my current one has been cr@p - it is full of thistles and docks and I have found 2 flattened frogs, assorted plastic bottles and bits of wood. The horse is not keen on it either and usually there's a lot spead through the bed in the morning that she's not eaten.

we used to get lots of stones in straw, and have had the usual in the old hay for example pheasants. new hay is amazing though, nothing in any of them bales as of yet.

...I have found

3 squashed Fosters cans
1 squashed pop bottle
1 flip flop

.....and last night......a sock:confused:

The hay itself is lovely....but gawd only knows which field it came from. I'm almost worried to continue ......possibly tonight I shall unwind another layer and find a foot/leg/tramp/family on a camping holiday.....:p:D

Sounds to me like a couple snuck off with their cans of fosters to go and have a romp ;) and didn't get fully re-dressed after :p

I have found....

Precisely nout in my hay :( I feel very left out

I've found a very squished and papery snake in a bale of haylage before..... Think the worst thing was when I went to grab a handful of feed and pulled out a squished up mouse! Bleurgh. xoxo

Thank you for that, it made me roar with laughter after a trying week!

Haven't had anything nasty out of haylage bales yet apart from a few stones but did have a mummified mouse in a bag of feed last week!

I've never found anything in my hay / haylage before this week....

but then I found 2 small lengths of electrical wire and a bucket handle.

However, my mare swallowed a small length of wire that was probably baled in her hay, and had to have colic surgery in september. she had 2 abcesses, a perforation and peritonitis, she's very lucky to be alive, and she is / was pregnant!

So I am very paranoid about finding stuff in my hay.... I shake out the whole lot TWICE before feeding.

The worst I've found in my haylage is stones, but on a similar note .....

I was litter picking on the bridleway the other day and after finding a few condom wrappers on the floor saw a used condom hanging from the hedge - have to say I didn't pick that up!!

I haven't found anything yet! I really hope I don't either *touch's wood* Ohh unless it's money, I don't mind finding some of that.
