I'm pretty lucky,
My old boy that is out 24/7 stays out, his field has a lot of natural shelter should he wish to take advantage of it. Wearing his hat and a bit of fly spray
My working horse comes in during the day,and out at night, again I'm lucky with brick built very open plan stables with great airflow.
However if I had a wooden stable that got hot, stuffy and airless then I would leave the horse outside in preference.

Mine comes in during the day anyway as he's a fattie, so he will have been in since about 10am with soaked hay to munch on. He doesn't mind the heat at all and is happier without his hat on (no matter how clean I keep it, he still walks into things with it on
).
Our barn is huge thankfully, very light and airy with really good air movement plus he's at the end by the big doors, so it will have been cooler indoors for him today.
