In or out?

When a young horse is going through training (after being backed) do you think they need to be stabled at night rather than out with their peers 24/7 at grass?

Would it benefit them to have a routine or would it matter?
 
Do you think? I am in two minds at the moment. Trying to work things out for what is best for him. I agree with you in terms of keeping things normal and minimise stress.

I thought that by having a routine it might show him some discipline and being handled regularly. As its dark when I get home from work I only do stuff with him on weekends so he is essentially out all week doing nothing. I thought that by being out 24/7 at such a young and inexperienced age might keep him wild when I am trying to break that.

Or am I wrong!?

I think that regardless of what training routine a horse is going through, if it can happily live out, and the majority will, then leave it out.
If given the opportunity to chose, as long as they have food and appropriate rug/shelter they want out imo
 
If he is used to being out 24/7 then leave him out 24/7. he is not going to get 'wild'
 
No, I don't think it would keep him 'wild'. As Puss_in_boots says, most horses are happier living out. Beginning to live in is very stressful, and he may resent you for putting him in an unnatual situation where he is unsure of himself, and therefore stay 'wild'!
