So many horsey things are rather expensive, so it's nice when you find something cheap but wonderfully effective.

* Thorowgood Tuff stirrups (super light so they don't add weight to the saddle and don't bang against the horse's side; cheesegrater treads which don't scratch the saddle; plus very easy to clean).
* Wet-wipes - I use these for everything - cleaning mud off my tack, my boots, for grooming, on my hands etc etc.
* Ginormous big bottles of Tresemme shampoo from Superdrug for shampooing legs, tails etc.

Feel free to add yours!

Have just put a new bed of shavings in my horses stable for £20 ,two builders bags full bought from a local farmer whose son has a timber yard.

my best investment is my farrier boyfriend :-D

Pig oil is the best invention EVER!! Mud barrier, Coat stripper, mane and tail detangler and show shine.

Also Red Mills Full fat Soya, Full of oil and protein and only £14.50 for a 25kg bag which is used like a balancer. Once the horses are up to show condition, they're then fed on this and chaff and they bloom!!

I knwo a lot fo the times it's a case of "you get what you pay for" but I have a Derby House Fly Rug which was about £40 or something and I got a DH turnout rug free with it. It's awesome - my boy wore it 24/7 for the second half of last summer - didn't rub him and stayed well put. Also, because it has a hood with ear holes there was no need for him to wear a headcollar with it, like with some designs, so he could wear it in the stable. :D

I bought a blue bridle (bright blue)! because it was Ten quid. It's been brilliant and it looks really sweat on my boy. I've even seen one just like it in the H and H mag in an insurance ad.
