Is anyone doing anything?

I haven’t been on Tali since her kick 2 weeks ago so I need to get on her to make sure she is sound. She is totally field sound but I’m still nervous to get on her. I will try a short hack Saturday and if I’m totally sure she’s ok, me and some friends would like to go a hack in memory of the Queen on Monday.

I was competing at Blenheim yesterday doing RoR classes and all competitors had black armbands and they did a silence and then Laura Wright sang the National Anthem. Unfortunately was too far away to hear her as imagine was moving and she has an amazing voice. It was moving enough just standing with our horses for the two minutes silence. Was quite odd as said to the horse we are off to a Palace today but no Queen - not that Blenheim is a royal family palace, but did suddenly hit me that we won't see her at Royal Windsor again.

We had to say a sad goodbye to my favourite horse the day before the Queen died and it's been an odd and very empty week without him. I forced myself into my normal routine with the others last weekend but my heart wasn't in it.

Gave myself a kick up the backside today and got baby cob out. Not sure if it's the weather or my 2022 hay is super charged but he left the yard feeling rather too full of energy. Our road is too slippery to trot on so we power walked spooking and snorting to the stubble field where he decided to have an airs above ground moment ? We did a LOT of trotting until he was less boingy then a canter. Boing, boing, boing.

Hope it's not the hay otherwise I'm going to need sticky pants all year ?

Went XC schooling today before we make the step up to 90 next week. P was brilliant, he can be a bit of a toad to XC school but was 90% on good behaviour today! Feel like we’ve finally cracked ditches as he went straight over all of them today ?

Had 2 fences he got himself in a tizz about which was a shame, though they were a fairly beefy skinny brush and corner, so I’m sure I had some role in that too. Didn’t get him over them, wasn’t worth it. There’ll be another day to work on them. He absolutely flew the slightly smaller corners, and other skinnies I pointed him at.

Tomorrow morning heading to the beach with a friend and her horse for a bit of a blast ?

Tomorrow am accompanying a friend of a friend on a non jumping fun ride (B will be naffed off without jumps lol).
Due to my ineptness and being over tired on Monday, I missed the entry for Sunday's Equicross which is the final outdoor RC comp this year. I'll go a-pootling instead and will do a reflective pootle 1st thing on Monday.
There is a very local 'smart parade' for ridden and in hand equestrians on Monday but I'd rather be home instead.

Good luck to those competing ?

Me and my friend did this last sunday.

I told my boy that as a Fell pony he had to behave himself because he was representing the Queen.

Really hope Tali is sound for you.

Pony had a day off as went to spectate/shop at Blenheim today - he did a long pub ride on Thursday though, so well deserved for him! Hacking tomorrow, possibly schooling or a quick hack on Sunday as it's largely a day of non-horsey plans. Hacking Monday morning before the funeral.

Hope everyone has a good weekend :)

Fence judging at munstead tmrw! 6am wake up blurk. Must be mad. Have packed everything I own - garden chairs, sun gear, rain and cold weather options. No hat though, must dig one out and pack that too. Just re-watched the fence judging video training and will no doubt dream about stop watches and whistles. Off to bed now ?

Judging at local Ploughing Show in Kent and for my sins I have all the childrens classes, deep joy!! Going prepared with loads of Haribo sweets just in case someone has a meltdown:p
Haribo are universally accepted to lift the spirits!

I am feeling very proud of myself as H still has shoes until Monday, but I have stuck with it and not ridden so his holiday has begun. I am swimming in the lake this morning, will wash all boots, numnahs etc and clean tack for storage.

He will be back in work for Xmas, so we will start doing bits and pieces (walking) before that, as long as he is comfortable barefoot to do so. Don't see why not though, he lost a shoe once and it took almost a week to have it replaced and he marched round on the hard and over stones then. He will still have 6 weeks off-off however comfortable he is, while we have good grass and field time, then we will see about work in hand and hand walking on the road, just occasionally, once we are restricted to all weather turnout.

Not much for us.

My two aren’t really doing anything so I’ve barely ridden recently, although I did steal Jack from my dad for a lesson the other day.

The 4yo is just coming back into work after injuring himself and Raz is only to be kept ticking over until we see the vet again on Tuesday and decide what the plan is for him - He had his left suspensory blocked on Thursday but there wasn’t any significant improvement so it’s looking like the hock is still the issue.

On a slightly happier note, my window shopping has turned into actual shopping and I’m heading down south to view a couple of horses next week. What’s one more to muck out when I’m already doing six? ?

Hope everyone has a successful weekend.

Having had a month off riding I've been taking every opportunity to ride as I am away for a week's hols soon. My daughter is travelling round Europe for 3 months in her camper van with her dog and I am meeting up with her in Croatia, I am quite excited! I schooled Mr D on Thursday and he went very nicely. Yesterday I went to the dressage Nationals, dreadful journey I hate the M6. tbh it was rather disappointing as there were few spectators and very little atmosphere, I'm not sure I will go again. Today I had a fun poles for flatwork session which we both enjoyed and Mr D felt quite jolly. I've watched a lot of WEG this afternoon and I'm schooling again on Monday a.m.
I hope everyone is enjoying the early Autumn weather, it was really beautiful this morning.
edit as I sent too soon.

I had a lovely ride round the fun ride this morning, no jumps so it wasn't over subscribed or full of loons. The lady I was escorting thoroughly enjoyed it, after the 1st 20 mins she relaxed and we ended up doing quite a few canters, a couple of which were very brisk indeed. She only needed to use B as a bumper once, having been told to use me as brakes if absolutely necessary ?
Sun was out after a very crisp start, and the ground was perfect going after recent rains, perfect ?

@blood_magik good luck with the viewing ?

@oldie48 holiday plans sound great. (Still in love with me boots!)

I went and helped OH at the motocross this afternoon doing pit stops. They were racing in a stubble field and I couldn’t help thinking what a waste it was when there could be horses having a right good spin in it. ?

I took Tali a wee hack to the beach today to see how she was. If I didn’t know she’d been kicked I wouldn’t think anything was wrong or amiss but of course I was constantly looking for things. But she was forward and delighted to get out after 2 weeks in the field. She is so hard to tell how she’s going as she’s always doing something, never just walking or trotting straight. When we go a hack with friends equilabs says we do so many more transactions than the others. Sometimes double ??‍♀️
Anyway I’m fairly sure she’s good but will take it easy this week and be keeping a very close eye on her. I was hoping for a nice wee hack on Monday with friends but they are going a pretty long hack so will only meet up with them for 15-20 minutes before I head for home.

we took shelter from the rain beside a shed till the shower passed. It felt so so good to be back on her even getting rained on couldn’t dampen my spirits

Frickley unaff 90 was HUGE. I wondered if I was imagining it because I don't remember it being a particularly tricky or big course but I've got the video of Katie doing the BE90 last year - and this was bigger and more technical. I am glad I got up early to walk the course because if I had walked it yesterday I think I would have withdrawn. It was just terrifying. The biggest was an enormous open ditch hedge that I saw was blackflaggged so I looked for the nice log to replace it - and the alterntaive route was almost as big, also wide, more skinny and on a dodgier line! But no ditch at least. So I went for that one. There were also A-B-C elements that were trappy and tricky. Fences on brows of hills or up steep hills. I just had no idea how I was going to get round alive never mind clear. But Lottie STORMED round. Never any doubt. She is just amazing. So bold but also really listening. 6 time for getting lost. Oops. I did actually know where I was going but overshot the route back into the woods.

Poor dressage - not sure why. She was just inattentive. 4 SJ which was ok. She felt good - just a careless pole I think.

Looking forward to a season at 90 next season. I think that is the biggest and most technical 90 I have ever done except for Somerford. And on Somerford I had pretty much no control and deffo did not deserve a clear so that is probably my best ever round. BUZZING. Pic spam will follow...... Plus I was on my own today and really worried about that. Felt all sad and lonely and pathetic till I realised I'm never alone if I'm with Lottie. Feeling quite tearful and very proud of her. And pretty proud of myself too :)

A few pics from the course walk. That hedge is the easy option.

And some related distances without much time after a big jump in.

I have body parts that relate to 80/90/100/110. I measured a hedge rail at fence 4 at 110cm. I stopped going up to them after that! I didn’t want to know ? But the one in the woods was definitely much wider and looked bigger (but I guess could be just more imposing).

Fab and well done. One thing about being on own you’re only answerable to yourself and lots of lovely horse bonding time
