Just had a text (yes text!) telling me that I have 2 weeks to leave the livery yard that I am on with my 6 horses.

Now I can imagine what everyone is thinking, that I'm some scum bag, grotty horse owner that neglects their horses, doesn't pay their rent but I really am not.

I am someone that works all hours god sends so that my horses, mainly ones that would have gone for meat but instead now have useful and happy lives and are well fed, well shod, wormed, have good tack and regular physio sessions.

I get up at 4:45am and most of the time do not get home until 8:30pm but although it's hard work it's what I choose to do and these horses have taken me to some fabulous places (we got placed at Royal Windsor last year and it was the best day ever).

For some reason I do not fit in on this yard. I don't have the time to sit around and drink coffee in the day so am seen as not joining in and at the weekends I go out either competing or on pleasure rides in my horsebox that I was lucky enough to get last year after spending the last 20 odd years dreaming of it (unfortunately it only came about as I got got some inheritance after my Dad died).

Because two of my horses had to move to the yard in a hurry (horses getting out at our rented land) some of the horses had to share stables at night. Although other stables have become available I have been paying for 6 stables but only had 5 for the past four months and have not been offered any more. I have never once complained to YM about this.

I have had problems trying to pay my rent since I got to the yard as the YM wanted me to leave cash (which is amounts to a lot of money when you are paying for 6!) in a hole in a shed and refused to let me pay into the bank. I wasn't happy doing this so sometimes had to wait until the days when my partner wasn't at work so he could go down and take it as YM is only there for a few hours every day and not at all at the weekend.

The reasons that I have been given for them wanting me gone is that someone has reported that I put a sack of feed and some hay out in the field one night (the rule is no hay or feeding in fields). I had to correct YM that actually I put 3 sacks of feed and my own small bale of haylage into the field one night as when I went down to the yard after work there was no hay or haylage in the barn (this is included in the livery) so I couldn't bring the horses in with nothing to give them in the stable.

Also it is apparently because after my horse lost 3 shoes in a week I put something on FaceB about them losing shoes in the ploughed field (field is a disgrace).

Lastly it's the problem that I've been causing with paying the rent as yesterday because the money was mounting up, I managed to get the bank details and pay it in full.

I have been desperately searching for somewhere else to go for ages anyway as it just feels like I'm a lower class of citizen up there but now I just feel so hopeless.

Sorry for the essay but I just needed to vent a bit so I didn't burst into tears in front of everyone.

I was following your woes over that cash payment on the other thread. Sadly, I can't say that you could move south with them all and in with me - I just wanted to say how sorry I am that things have come to this and how awful it is that you've only been given two weeks to get sorted.

Really, really hoping that you manage to get something and am sending big sympathy hugs and a bottle of virtual wine your way.

Looking on the bright side though, when you do get sorted hopefully you'll be in a much better place and happier without all the hassles you've been putting up with recently.

Have been following your threads about this yard, and hopefully this is a blessing in disguise (even though I can't image much else feeling worse than this). Fingers crossed you find somewhere much better - your current yard sounds horrible. Sending big hugs - and hopefully in a month or so you'll be able to look back and see this as an unwanted kick up the bum that you got you somewhere much better! xx

Gosh, two weeks isn't much notice! They could have at least given you a month.

Sounds like it is their loss.

I hope you find somewhere soon. Sending you internet wine :)

If you were leaving the yard of your own accord, how much notice would they require? If it's 4weeks then you should receive the same amount .
Really hope you can sort something out. As for cash payments....well we all know why people want paying in cash!

Just thought that I would do a small update for those that were following.

Thanks so much for your kind words. I know it sounds slushy but they really did help to keep my head up.

I went up to see a guy who runs a livery yard nearby. First question he asked was why I needed to move so quick and I was 100% honest and told him about all the issues that I had been faced with and that I had been given two weeks to leave. I think my partner thought that I was mad at first saying that I was being thrown off but was a bit like therapy and actually telling someone what had actually been going on for all these months, I felt so much better about things as I had started to think that I must be to blame.

Anyway despite the yard being quite full he's been fantastic and is sorting something out for me and I'm thrilled to say that he's more than happy for me to pay my livery into the bank!

Hopefully I can now start to get my life back as I hadn't realised just what a detrimental effect the last place was having on me and my horses. I have loads to look forward to with my team's first horsball game just over a week away and another trip to Royal Windsor in May to do our thing with the big boys!!

We might not be anything special but we are better than that place!

Oh and there will be a few little calls being made...............

I am so glad you have found somewhere .
As for the IR ,it's perfectly legal to require payment in cash .
Although I would expect the YOer to have a sensible system for seeing you and collecting it .

That's really good news Wimbles, I'm so, so pleased that it's all working out for you.

May I ask what you are up to at Windsor? I go every year and I'll give you a big cheer if I'm there at the same time :)

Really glad you are sorted out, you sound much happier.
As for the IR, yes it is perfectly legal to be paid in cash....as long as it's declared!

Hiya I'm so sorry for what's happened to you. I wish you the best of luck!! Hopefully everything will turn out ok in the end.

As some one else has already mentioned previously. You might want to contact the hm revenue as if she kept refusing you to put it straight into her bank. Then the likely reason is there's something dodgy going on with it.

Again best of luck!! 😘

Didnt want to read and run. Pleased to hear things are working out. This sounds like it will be a good move as the other place sounded as if it was making you unhappy.

Good luck with the new yard

Hope it all goes well re the move and the new yard turns out just fine. I'd be ringing the Tax people and telling them the old YO have payment in cash and dont declare it

So pleased that you have got things sorted - our horses are such a worry. It's bad enough moving one horse so it must be a worry looking for a yard for 6. I hope things work out for you at your new place. Take care & l hope that you & your horses are much happier at the new yard.

So glad everything got sorted :) Had been thinking of you!

New YO sounds a lot nicer already. You must almost be thankful they kicked you off - now it's time to start enjoying your horses again :)

It's amazing how much of a difference a good yard/good people make

I am competing in the ROR Challenge (the jumping one) championship. I'll be the one looking sick with nerves whilst my horse carries me round the course!

So pleased to hear you have found somewhere - that must be such a relief for you. I had been following your other thread and it sounded such a stressful place. Onwards and upwards now - and good luck at Windsor!
