I've been told that I've got 3 useless nags, that my 17 year old TB is on his last legs (he isn't!) and that my tricky 5 year old who I have only had for a few months will be for sale in the next couple of months if she doesn't settle down (she won't be!).

They then put the curse on me by saying, 'you hardly ever fall off do you?' so be prepared for a post from A&E in the next week or so from me, as I am now bound to fall off!

Same here, I'm the only horsey one on both sides of the family.

I get all sorts of 'insults' flung at me, quite like what you mentioned... although the worst was when a family member was watching me clean a wound on the geldings leg, he was hopping about, trying to kick me and he said "For gods sake, if he was my horse I'd have shot him by now" :eek:

Non horsey folk just don't UNDERSTAND!!! ;)
 
Its the other way round for me. I curse the shetland for trashing my fencing/breaking into the hay barn/barging when I'm trying to feed the others/galloping down the bridlepath after us when she's supposed to be locked in the field but my family always tell me I wouldn't swap her for the world, and in all honesty, it's true :)

Take with a pinch of salt... they're your horses after all :D

My family are all non horsey and know nothing about horses so would just assume I knew what I was doing. Do you want to borrow them? ;)
 
I'm the only horsey one in my family but my parents will not hear a word said against the pony. I took his treat ball home to wash at new year and hadn't got round to taking it back to the yard. Pony was a pest in the school the other night - my mum responded to this with "well, i don't blame him, with you being mean and taking away his toy!". Honestly, the pony could dump me on the floor and my mother would ask me what I did to annoy him!
 
:rolleyes: Non-Horsey families are great aren't they. Take it with a pinch of salt.

My side's horse knowledge is limited to a Grand national Steepstake and DH's is BHP - motorbikes mostly.

Yeah me too - I have three - all are bad tempered (well 2 are for sure) one is a hound killer (he is not, the hound lived) and one is a dull Yak until it comes to hunting.........! They all want the glory days, but none of them want to do the work to get them fit......Guess I need to sell at least two, and take up tiddly winks........
 
If the horse in your sig is anything to go by your horses are not useless! Infact I dont know if your saw my post about coat colour and showing, whether my coppery coloured would do as well as a darker bay skewbald? Well it was because of your gorgeous neddy that I asked the question:p
 
I'm the same Kellybee. I have an ugly stubborn horse and a useless horse - I frequently insult them yet get lots of lovely comments about both.
God forbid anyone else insulted them though :D
