Obviously can't put details up in fear of getting a slapped wrist, but would love your opinions on the best sites for selling horses?

My mare is for sale and although there has been a few interested parties, none have worked out.

If you would like the details from me to suggest what you think would be the best place to advertise a horse like her, please PM me!

Thanks :)

I put mine on every single horse website going - Googled horse for sale sites, or free horse advertising websites, made accounts with all of them!! I never advertised in magazines, just did it all online. There are loads of free advertising websites out there too :) My H&H online ad only cost a fiver! Well worth it as it lasts a month.

I do not use every site possible, people tend to google the details and if it comes up too much you look desperate, I like to target the site to suit what I am selling, good safe types go on the PC site, quality on H&H or Horsequest, cheaper ones Horsemart, sites such as Horsehunter I have tried but never even had a reply but mine are usually not cheapies.

Other sites are the BE or BD if appropriate, the site I have probably sold most through is the PC one and it seems to get a really sensible type of people using it, they are usually genuinely looking to buy and prepared to pay sensible money.

I'm on my phone so can't pm, feel free to pm me though :p

I found my boy on horse deals, also looked on horse mart. Depending on how much you're selling him for, preloved too, I like that you can look for local things on there. Don't think it's very good for more valuable horses though.

Horse quest is OK, but not the biggest fan of it, sometimes the search doesn't seem to work.

Depending on your horse, the pony club website has a classifieds section.

I find the Horsequest search not great as well!!!! I also found mine on Horse Deals so another vote there.
The most response i got selling was from Horsemart,H&H & Preloved. Mine was an average priced horse allrounder - nothing expensive. Pony Club website is also a good place to advertise. Where i am they have brought a few ponies/horses that have been advertised on there.

Thanks for the tips and advice folks. I have used horse deals, prime equine, the horse exchange and a few Facebook "horse for sale" groups so far. I'd say she is middle of the road re price. Not cheap, but certainly not expensive either.

Quite like horse deals as you can "boost" your adverts! I find H&H search facility difficult to use, plus there seems to be faults with it where it doesn't return you to your original search when you open up your advert and try to go back? Does anyone else find this?

It's a shame as I like the H&H magazine adverts but I question how many people buy the mag... Do a lot just read online?

I echo everyone else really, H&H, Pony Club and Horsequest.

Though if she's a specific breed they can do well off the breed sites?

As you know i am looking for one and have to admit i find the new H & H classifieds a pain in the ...... to use. Its a shame cos there are nice horses on there just hard to find them.
I sold my boy through Horse Quest. We had about 7 enquiries and 3 viewings and he sold to the 2nd people. He was an established allrounder though.
Like is said in my PM the other day, its such a shame yours isnt a gelding:(
