Inatentive Mare

I have always owned geldings but have recently bought myself a lovely mare, She is a real sweetie with out a bad bone in her body however, she just does not concentrate on anything, She is not spooky, just nosey and is very inatentive. Also she has just come into season and is now even more inatentive!!! I know we are very new to each other but I now know why I stuck with geldings for many years lol

Has anybody had any success with using the supplement Stroppy Mare? Any suggestions on how to get through a summer with a lovely but dispy mare? lol

Stroppy mare kind of does what it says on the tin, it's for mares who get aggressive / narky whilst in season. If she's just dippy then I'd probably save your money and just take your time getting to know her.

I seen no difference with my mare on moody mare, would recommend it myself. My mare is quite nosey too, it seems to come and go from day to day, I've found that now we're more 'in tune' she can put her need to be nosey aside for an hour or so while I ride...well when she wants to, there are days when 'that hedge over there' is far more interesting than me!

Hiya, I have had my mare on Stroppy mare for several years as that what she is 'Stroppy'. I like the natural herbs of this rather than other supplements., and it isnt too expensive. I am lucky as my mare doesnt really change much when in season, except she hates being groomed at that time and is a bit more nappy, so I just tack up with no fuss and get on with riding.
I must admit though if i ever get another horse I would rather get a gelding.

I have always owned mares.... NEVER AGAIN!! The stress! During each winter I really think we are getting somewhere.. until spring.
When my mares in season its like she looks through me! i'm not there in her little world, but the rest of the time she is lovely.
I've tried stroppy mare with an old mare and didn't really find it made much difference, I've had a lot of success with Oestress.
I find with the inattentive thing the only thing that works with mine is to really niggle at her and get her to notice me and stop her wondering off.
But she's taking a trip to the vets on wed to have her ovaries examined because she really is a crazy moo at times.

Oestress is excellent! One of my mares used to mount other mares while she was in season, now she is on Oestress from spring to late autumn and i dont even know when she is in season. My other mare i never notice but she is very nosey, you just have to make what you are doing more interesting than whats over wherever, magic is also very good for fizzy horses and would poss help with nosey horses. I would never have a gelding always had mares!

Thank you every body for your input. I rode her today properly for the first time since I have had her ( 3 weeks, as only just got a saddle fitted) and i have to say that she was very good. During the time I haven't been able to ride her I have lunged her and taken her for walks or just generally fussed over her, I think that the work on the ground has helped. Anyway let's face it, she'e female so she's bound to be a little temperamental and awkward at times, I know I am, but I'm also a very nice person too if looked after well and kept interested!!!
