For a while I thought my 3 yr old lurcher girl was weeing on my bed as when I come home there was often a wet patch and the whole bed had to be stripped. I've banned them from the bedroom now but I've just come in to use the computer and she was asleep on the chair and now there's a wet patch there too. I can't believe she's wee'd on it so could she be a bit incontinent? I've had a look and she doesn't appear to be 'dribbling'. Also it doesn't smell like wee as we know it. My Alf pees up his front legs and there's no mistaking when he's done it but this isn't as strong.

The wetting on the owners bed bit can be a common problem when left by the owner, my whippets used to do it all the time

......however the urinating on the sofa whilst asleep....that does sound like incontinence...my rotti is incontinent ans she urinates in her sleep...or atleast she did before I put her on a syrup called propalin.
Its due to a weakness in the sphincer muscle, and the proplain works wonders for this condition

I would get her checked out.

Had a bit of trouble with our greyhound with this, she had a slight temperature so vet thought a minor infection. Had some antibiotics & all fine, which was cool. The vet did say if it continued had to have propalin, but thought she was a bit young (she was 3) to need it yet. Definately get it checked out, wonder if its common in our long skinny dogs? Good luck,

It is more common in large breed bitches...my rotti has been on propalin since she was 2

she is now 4.

Tis possible it could be a urinary infetion..esp if she is licking around her vulva.

Thanks all. she doesn't appear at all ill and isn't licking herself. I even wondered this morning if it was her wet nose soaking into the throw on the bed if she had been asleep in the same position for a couple of hours but i'll pop her to the vets just to make sure.

My dog had this (started with wet patches on the carpet) and I didn't realise it was him as it didn't smell like pee and he showed no "guilt" signs (he wasn't aware of having done it!)
Popped him to the vet when I realised he had a/ had a problem and b/ there was blood in it; initally treated as cystitis with no luck; finally x-rayed to show a huge bladder stone for which he had surgery.

I have a related question to this.... My nans dog wees whenever its excited. As soon as i come through the door, she wees. is there any way we can stop this?
