I think my elderly dog is becoming incontinent. If he makes it he would be 14 in February. As I have other dogs I cant be 100% sure it is him but I'm about 99% sure. Friends have told me it could be the begining of the end. If this is the case, how long left do you think he has. Is there anything I can do to make him more comfortable. He's my first dog so is very special to me. He still goes out for a walk twice a day and apart from having wibbly wobbly back legs he still looks like a very happy dog.

Thanks

I would suggest you speak to your vet, his incontinence could be caused by any number of things, an infection, prostate problems or simply old age and a touch of senility. I don't think anyone on here can advise how long he has left but I hope it is a good while. A quick check up could put your mind at rest and if he is in any discomfort make him more comfortable.

Agree completely with this. Try to collect a urine sample from him if you can and take it in to the vets when you go.

You mentioned wobbly back legs - does your dog have arthritis? Make sure as well as checking prostate your vets examine the back legs and do a neurological exam as if there are problems with the nerves travelling to back legs and bladder this might explain some of the symptoms you mention.
