I have a 6yo spayed dobermann who lives with my parents in Argentina. She sometimes wets herself overnight. Vet gave her a hormone injection (this was a while ago, can't remember what it was exactly) which didn't really work, so have basically been trying to make sure she has a wee before going to bed, which generally does the trick and in good weather (which is most of the year) she sleeps outside, so the wetting is less of an issue.
I remember a while back on this forum someone suggested a drug that might help. Can anyone remember what it might be? My mum is in the UK now, so might she be able to get it without the vet seeing/checking the dog? Are there any side effects?
Thanks

Propalin? I'm fairly sure it's prescription only, the vet would probably want to see the dog first.

Incidentally I have half a bottle here (probably 3 weeks supply for a dobie sized dog, enough to give it a trial run anyway) that you are very welcome to if she has an address in the UK I can send it to. :)

erm... there is a reason why its prescription only! Drugs shouldnt just be passed about willy nilly and if your mother tries to take the drugs back into Argentina she could be in serious trouble with customs. Best to go to a vet over there and ask about the drug there. The vet would need to check the dog to make sure this was the correct course of treatment and that there wasnt another reason for the incontinence (and make sure it is definately a true incontinence)

If I may refer you to my original post. I have taken her to see a vet. Two vets in fact. One vet said there was nothing that could be done, and the second vet gave her a hormone injection which didn't work. Both vets told me incontinence was common in certain breeds of dog once they had been spayed.
I would be able to go BACK to the vet if, instead of launching into a finger wagging telling off, you could've told me what it's called.
Kindly stop trying to second-guess me.
