I have a 6 yr old spayed Dobie bitch. Just the last few evenings she has wet herself when she is laying down relaxed or sleeping. She is not peeing excessively or washing too suggest infection. She is eating etc normally. Has anyone got any ideas to suggest what may be the problem? I will be taking her to the vets but just wanted some advice for now. Roxie does not do 'dirty' so is very embarassed poor girl.:(

Bad Ostrich!!!

Well I would say the fact that she is eating and not washing does not mean she isn't carrying an infection - if that is all it is, it should be easily cleared up with antibiotics :)

Is she on any other meds?

Hi CC
No shes not on anything at all. Always been healthy apart from the odd case of stitches needed when shes been too exhuberant! usually connecting with a branch or something. It is only happening when she ism lying down

It could be urinary incontinence due to age, can sometimes happen to spayed (and unspayed) bitches, which can be usually controlled with Urilin or similar, or as CC says it could be a mild infection. Either way the vet is the only person who can provide answers and medication, try and get a urine sample and take it with you when you get an appointment, its probably the first thing they will ask for. Nothing much you can do in the meantime apart from put a couple of towels for her to lie on so she is comfier if she does leak.
