I'm finding it difficult to collect my mares canter. Hoping to do more jumping but don't feel like we can safely until we have more 'jump' in the canter. If anyone can advise how to create a more adjustable canter I would love to hear....... :)

Canter seems to be the theme today:)

Canter poles are really helpful, in a line, 4 on a circle or a fan, you can play around with the distances to suit, especially the ones on a circle/ fan as you can move in or out as you want to adjust the stride.

Plenty of trot, canter, trot transitions on a circle always rebalancing the trot before going into canter again, use counter canter to gain straightness and balance which will help with the engagement.
Make sure you dont lose the jump or length in the canter by trying to collect it too much you should aim for level strides to help with distances when jumping.

Use grids to help with adjusting the stride, let the distances do the job rather than you fiddling too much, trotting in and cantering out until the horse is more established, you can still do a decent line of fences coming in in trot.
