just a small background info.
I have a one year staffie x and was hoping some of you could help with toy ideas.
The toy she hasn't totally destroyed is her tug rope toy but that's a big version to the little ones you get. Any soft toy is either destroyed in minutes or she takes the squeaky out than leave soft part for later, seems to be if it has a squeaky or filling her mission is to take it out :D she has one hard toy and calcium bone? not sure if that's what they're called but they were filled with something. she has a kong and likes to squeeze it so i bought her a rubber bone but that's being demolished as i type

so can any of you think of any good toys you have that last?

thanks in advance

Dinosaur nylabone. A friend has these got her staffies and it's the only toy they haven't destroyed within 5 mins. You want the ones for power chewers

I have a Jack Russell and he ruins everything - especially anything that squeaks! Pets At Home have some squeaky teddies but really tough ones. They're about £16 so very pricey but we bought one a few weeks ago as an 'experiment' and it's still alive!! :D Think it's called a 'tuffy' but make sure you don't buy the octopus - too many little bits poking out to chew off. We got the ghost shape and it's doing well so far!!

I will be watching this thread, Tia is in need of some new toys but I'm loathed to buy any expensive 'tough' toys when I don't trust them not to break after 5 mins.....she is tough on toys!!! She loves her Kong but nothing else lasts.

Kong extreme are the only things my staffie doesn`t destroy in minutes, the extra large kong I bought him several months ago is still intact, he also loves the kong extreme bone, they last about 2 months before he manages to start to destroy them.

Kongs as a leave with toy but for playing with the dog I find wheelbarrow or scooter tires are excellent & much cheaper than pet shop options.

satinbaze ahh yes, she has one of these which is the hard toy she has its red n apparently beef flavour, its lasted just over a year so far and still going strong :D

cheshire chestnut the 'tuffy' sounds like a good idea will have to pop in and see it looks, i don't mind spending the money on a good toy that will last

seems like the kong brand is the way to go for tough durable toys.

she does have one toy that i have no idea how has lasted as long as it has, is a toy for the cat. it has a flashing ball that runs around a track you make, she can't get to the ball but this seems to with stand her jaws and feet and her carrying it around to try and get the ball out.

my collie x has a stuffed bunny that he has had for 4 years and chews most days but the stuffing hasn't come out! He has had other pressies of stuffed toys that have only lasted a few hours. I want to get him something new so will look at the kongs

I got a long (about a metre),segmented green& blacksnake from PetsatHome recently. Inside each segment is a separate squeaker,(which is 'protected' by some patented system.) None of our squeaker-death-obsessed dogs have got at,or broken, any of the snake's squeakers yet (had it around 6wks-a miracle!) They love playing tug with it too,tho the multitude of squeakers gets a bit migraine-inducing after a while;) Rest of the snake is pretty tough too.
We've also got a couple of Tuffy toys, which do last a lot longer than most.
There's also a new range (can't remember who makes them) that don't have filling but have a 'core' of the hard, rope type stuff that tug toys are made of. Ours is still going but they made quick work of the exterior fabric.
And there's ones that are filled with a tough mesh that encases the filling & squeaker,so they can't get to it as easily.
None of them are exactly cheap tho!

Oo, this will be going on the Christmas list for my two terrorists, a kong wubba gets wiped out in hours!! Thankyou Venevidivici

I bought my GSD a Tuffie big bone. Destroyed in 10 mins.

His average destruction time for a large Kong Xtreme is 6 weeks. Nylabones do last but don't resemble a bone for more than a couple of weeks.

I got him a Starmark Everlasting Treat Ball from Amazon two months ago and he hasn't made a dent in it. The treat didn't last long (but in fairness I'd taken it out and given it to my other non-chewing GSD) but the ball is seemingly indestructible, and it's the first thing I've ever bought that can withstand him. I'm incredibly impressed! I put kibble in and pastes of any kinds to keep him occupied. He loves it!
