ok, so I'm going local showing at the weekend.....and i'm after some advice.

Basically, it can be very hard work keeping Bob "forward" unless he's in the mood!
Therefore, after doing the group show, I know that I'll be pooped!

So, any advice on a format for riding a short but complete individual show that won;t kill me?

He definitely has a better left rein trot, so should i start on the left rein, or is it more standard to go off on the right? oh...and i can usually get him to extend canter/gallop when needed..so would like to try and incorporate it!

any advice, much appreciated!!

Keep it short and sweet.

Walk out past the judge, proceed to trot a figure of 8. As you go back to where you started, proceed to canter a figure of 8, go back to trot, unless you can do flying changes as you change rein.

If you have the space, as you come out of second circle, push the canter to extended/gallop along the long side of the ring in front of the judge. Then go back to trot and then halt - it is best not to halt immediately in front of the judge, but on the long side of the ring away from the judge, as if they were taking a photo of you. Some people like to include rein back or do serpantines instead of figures of 8 but whatever you do, make sure you do it as perfectly as possible.

Hope you do well and have fun.
