just wondered if people could give me an idea of what they do, suitable for a coloured class. i have one i normally do but wondered what others had thought of. cheers
I do mine on a figure of eight shape, showing my horses different paces, I always keep it short and sweet as the judges have a lot of horses to see. Finish off in front of the judge stand square and salute.
Short walk, figure of 8 trot, fig of 8 canter, extension down the long side if appropriate. For goodness sake keep it short, I've lost count of the number of times I've heard a judge say 'Where the heck is she going now?' about a long-winded competitor.
If there are alot in the class I would do a walk away, trot back, trot the top loop of a figure of 8 then instead of doing a second trot kick on into a canter 8 then extend.
If your horse is good enough, well schooled and well mannered enough then you could do it all backwards - walk away, walk to canter for the bend then straight into a gallop, steady up, canter an 8, trot an 8 then stop and salute. I generally only use that for evening performances where you really need to stabd out.
