Hello all,

I am looking for some help in choosing a surface for our new 20m x 40m indoor riding arena. The arena will be used approx. 2-4 hours a day and we are finding it very difficult to decide on a type of surface. Any help/advice will be greatfully appreciated.

We have been looking at everything; sand and wax, sand and rubber, sand and nylon, sand and carpet fibres, pure sand, wood fibre etc...

We are happy to carry out daily/weekly maintenance including watering, levelling and rolling. We would just like a surface that rides well but does not cost the earth. I cannot understand how some of the larger surface companies can take silica sand which costs £15/tonne add some wax and charge £80/tonne!?!

Many thanks in advance,

If i was having a new surface but in an indoor, i would be tempted to go for waxed. Therefore no watering. However the higher costs for waxed might be too much.

I have fibre, and like turf float in my outdoor and its great, but dries out in summer. But you might consider a irriagtion system?
