So....am recovering with stiff gin after showjumping today. Turned up at 12:30pm to do the 3rd class to find they were still on the 1st class (brit nov) because they'd taken over 80 entries and hadn't started it until 10:30am!! Entered 2nd class instead (discovery) but there were already over 30 numbers on the board. Finally got to jump ages later. Again they had accepted over 60 entries in the second class and still had 3 more classes to get through (I left after 3pm and they were still on the discovery). I will never, ever go to that show again. I can understand that shows need to make money but surely if they're going to accept that many entries they should start earlier?? Pointless rant really but it's the first indoor show I've been to where they haven't limited the number of starters so that they can get through all the classes.
At least the sun shone...

that is why i am kinda dreading next weekend when i head to patchetts! ok it will be unaffliated but why oh why do they let so many people enter, there is a limit, we all do want to go home today and not next week

Ha ha, how did you guess? Were you there too?

The thing is...even if I'd turned up later there would still have been lots of numbers on the board before me. Ah well, it's good for them that they've made money. I'll vote with my feet next time and go somewhere else. I'd rather trek the extra 40 mins to Royal Leisure and jump there instead.

They were getting people into the ring quickly enough, there were just too many of us there.

That why I always phone up before I leave home. On the other hand how would you feel if you turned up and they refused your entry? I don't blame them for taking all the entries, its what keeps them open and supplements the quiet days. Also means that if you jump Double Clear you should get prize money

What classes are you doing?

Come and compete at my local (70 miles away) indoor arena, if we get 15 in a class its considered huge, same old faces every time.
