any one know anything i just walked and heard a little on the news .

just heard "a horse in northumberland imported from abroad has been found to have an infectious disease and has been put to sleep ,they went on to say that it was like foot and mouth but in horses and nothing could be done and that no other horses on the yard has it"

anyone heard anything

its very close to me there was a low flying helecopter flying over this afternoon ,hovering above our horses

it is the dealers yard next to mac donalds in ashington northumberland

Yes, its really bad. Swamp fever is a virus also known as Equine infectious anaemia (EIA). It is transmitted via infected blood from insects bites.

It was a horse imported from the Netherlands.

The BHS website has good info on swamp fever. Let's hope it's a one off, like the last outbreak here.
