Has anyone had this problem with their horse. She was slightly lame on her right fore in trot more ( no heat or swelling) so on hard ground, in August, vet was on yard so asked him to take a look. He thought it was a inflammed splint as she was sore when he put pressure on it.He found a very tiny lump I couldnt find it at first. I rested her for 2 weeks after that only worked on soft ground and she was fine. Then last week sore again and heat in leg. Rang vet he said cold hose and rest again for 2 weeks. How long do you think they take to heal completely. Vet will scan in 2 weeks if not improved!

I had one that took 3 months! He banged an existing splint.
Had a months rest and cold therapy, still not right, then injected with cortisone around the splint and still didn't come right, then treated with shockwave and by 3rd treatment was sound. At some point in between we did xrays just to rule out fracture!

Same as mine. Its so depressing as you think one minute they are ok and soon as you try to trot on the road again you can feel they are sore.
