Hi, I don't post on here very often but I am looking for a horse at the moment, I live in Essex and have seen horses I like being sold by both of these dealers.
I just wondered if anyone knew anything about either of these two dealers??

Find My First Horse - Annette Taylor in Norfolk

and

Rachel Matheson - Tawneys Farm in Oxford

They both have horses that I would be interested in but have heard mixed reviews about both. I'm really scepitcal about dealing with either of them now, although the horses I like look excellent! Any advice?

No personal dealings with Find my first Horse, however I was speaking to a chum about them as they do seem to have some nice looking and reasonably priced horses from time to time (i am addicted browsing horses for sale!)

My chum said someone from her yard had purchased a young Haffie from them, lovely pony but not quite right for her and they were no issues in taking the horse back. Not sure if it was a refund or replacement.

Good luck with your search

I visited findmyfirsthorse when i was looking for a horse and if i'm honest the impression i got was pretty average.

the couple of horses we looked at were both advertised at 14.2 and although perfetly genuine in terms of attitude age experience etc they btoh measure up at under 14hh.

There is someone on this forum who had a huge problem with the first mentioned dealer so draw your own conclusion. Can't help on the other one, sorry.

Not sure if the forum member mentioned was someone who posted about buying a horse that died several weeks later (8 weeks or so if I remember rightly). If it is the poster was also making disparaging remarks about the vet who did the vetting, a vet who I use and totaly trust. Post was later deleted.

Apologies if it was someone else, however if you could pm me their name, or if they are reading this and wanted to PM me I would be interested in any 'inside info' as I was seriously considering a visit once my baby is born in Feb.

Iam just looking for a nice mother and daughter RC alrounder, nothing spectacular

Thanks for the replies.

Was the death related to the dealer? Or just an awful misfortune?
I think I am going to go and have a look at one of them on Wednesday, although will be keeping my wits about me and if I find something I like, I'll be wanting it vetted by my own vet before it leaves the dealers yard, to have no question that has a clean bill of health when it arrives home with me.

Well thats the problem, the poster didnt give any info and it didnt appear that there wa a PM, quite honestly it was a weird ranting post. If a horse dies two or three months later when it was in apparent good health and after passing a vetting it wolud be hard to link it to a dealer. Good luck with your search and would love to know how you get on.
