Wonder if any can help? My horse is due to go in for spinal surgery next week and I have been doing a bit of reading on Glucosamine Sulphate. I know if helps to rebuild cartlidge and ligaments in us (as I used it when I had a knee op) and they've now found it good for dogs. Does any know if it would help Honey's recovery if I fed it to her; and whether or not it is suitable to feed to a horse? Want to make her recovery results as positive as possible.

My mare has been on it since a fetlock problem a couple of years ago. I am not sure how much scientific evidence there is for its effects, but she became sound again. You can buy it in various forms, I used the Newmarket joint supplement (you should find a website if you google it). My mum also swears by it for her hips!

Yes, there is a Glucosamine product for horses. I think Gold Label make it. Your local tack/ feed supplier should be able to get hold of it for you.

I don't kbow if you are putting this through your insurance but if so get vet to give it to you and you can get insurance to pay. This is what I have done in the past, vet gave me Cortaflex which insurance paid for, over time have also has msm and bioflow boots off insurance as were bought from vets practice and vet said they would help
Just an idea.

Hi thanks folks. I'll get my local supplier onto it; he's fantastic for tracking down the best which is also best value for money. Unfortunately my insurance will be all taken up with the operation so recovery program and extras will be down to me. Nice thought though.

PS: you're mums right; it's great for the hips and knees; didn't think my knee would be any use again but it's great now and I never get any twinges, so well worth a try.
