Anyone know anything about him? Good or bad.

Seen a horse by him - but currently do not know anything about sire or dam!

Saw him a few years ago when he was in his early 20s. A real gentleman of a horse. He used to run with his mares in the field but it was safe to walk in and give him a cuddle even though there were mares and foals running around. Lovely, lovely temperament. He was a successful showjumper, officially jumped to grade B in the UK but may also have jumped to world cup level when he spent several years in Italy. I saw a few offspring out of Shire mares and they were very nice.

He was a dark bay standing about 16.1 or 16.2. I think he might have been cleveland bay x TB but not 100% sure on that. He sired a stallion too: Millthyme Capricorn who was also a showjumper and is still standing at stud. Julian used to stand in Derbyshire.

Part Bred Cleveland Bay by Knaresborough Warlock.
Warlock is by Mulgrave Supreme who sired many jumpers, hunters and show horses.

Warlock's dam Spring Fever is in the recent pedigree of a lot of todays top pure bred CB show horses.

Lord Fairfax sired at least 2 Olympic show jumpers, I will have to come back to you with the names.

On the Cleveland side you will have good bone, soundness, power and a superb temperament.

Sorry do not know anything on the TB dam

I don't think it is the correct thoroughbred dam. This Sasha has had 11 other offspring all born in Australia and pure TB, most of them race winners.

Thornsett Julian's BHD (No 00003471) entry says he is by Knaresborough Warlock and out of Sascha by Capricorn xx
Breeder Mr A J Greenhalgh.
No further details on Sascha.

I've managed to find a GSB entry for a black colt named Capricorn (Vol 30 p. 42).
Born 1943.
by Mid-day Sun
out of Averil, ch 1937 by Canon Law
Bred by Squadron-Leader J. Martin.

But have been unable to find any Capricorn listed in stallion register so far.

I am trying to establish what type of horse this youngster will turn out to be..... it is Thornsett Julian x 17.2hh Shire. (have not seen pix yet & 3hrs away)

I am looking for a good temp and 16.3hh approx, sport horse type (dressage & jumpcross) - not too heavy. It is not a weight thing, but I am 5'7 and about 10-11stone (pregnant at the moment so est normal weight) and I have long legs - it is my long legs that need a bigger bodied/girthed horse - so do not want anything heavyweight. (Otherwise it may be too much). I am having problems getting photos from the owners at the moment due to technical difficulties.

Does anyone think they would be able to enlighten me at all?

With part bred cleveland bay and Shire, you're going to get quite a middle-heavy weight hunter stamp I would expect. IMHO this foal hasn't really been bred as a sport horse, but no reason why it wouldnt make a nice all rounder, and there has been a shire x Tb that competed at Grand Prix dressage (but obviously that was an exception, as a general rule of thumb does not see draft crosses competing at the higher levels of sport)

sacha was an anglo arab mare. will have an old julian stud card somewhere?? he is the grandsire of my mare. julian is the sire of millthyme capricorn who's dam was arden swallow a tb mare who raced very succesfully and then went on to be a grade a showjumper he also sired a couple of eventers one that went 4 star. stolensilver yes you are right that in the uk he jumped to grade b but then went abroad for a quite a few yrs before coming back. the offspring that i know of have been decent people with nice attitude to jumping. so i would expect he should be capable of producing a good allrounder sort.
