I have a 10 month old filly who is kept in a mixed herd. Now most of the boys have been gelded apart from 2 yearling colts. At what age do they all become fertile? Roughly I mean as I realise its not set in stone so to speak

I did ask in NL but got no answers

The colts could be fertile. I personally wouldn't leave a 10 month old filly out with colts. Apart from the fertility issue, they could injure her trying to mount her.

Was not what I was wanting to hear as she has settled well within the herd but will do whats best for her. Will see about getting her moved.

Thank you

Just a thought, but who owns the colts? Could they not be seperated and the filly stay with the geldings if they are getting on well?! Save the geldings from being harrassed by the colts as well! Be nice for her to stay with some youngstock...

Colts are owned by 2 different people. Turns out one of them isn't a colt as he has already been gelded and I hadn't checked

The other is an immature yearling and his gonads haven't dropped yet

and hasn't shown any sign of coltish behaviour at all.

Is he still a risk to Bella ?
