Hi. Wondering if any one knows what has happened to the john goodwin saddle company. There are plenty of this make saddles for sale, but I'm unable to locate this company. Any ideas? The last trace I have found was 2008 when some one has posted that the company was in South wakes with a phone number but it's a dead line.

My father had a saddle made by this company and I was trying to find out if they still held records on saddles they made.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

When I had dealings with him (the dealer that is, if they are the same person) it was at least 35 years ago and he was in his mid to late 40s at least then. He may well be no longer with us, and taken his businesses with him

Yeah Jill I was thinking the same. It's a shame. They are good saddles. I was hoping that there was records kept of all the saddle patent numbers so I could see if I could trace mine and see if he had any record of it. As mines been stolen I've seen it fir sale but have to proof. So no proof means I doubt I'll be getting it back

I left a voicemail for Paul Jones (Paul Jones Saddlery - I've known him for years) yesterday asking if he knew anything, he does tend to know who is who in the saddlery world. Not got back to me yet, I'll try him again over the next few days

Spoke to Paul this morning saddlesearch and he hasn't heard from him for a number of years. He doesn't think the business was bought by anyone else who might have retained the records, so sadly it sounds as though they may have been destroyed when the business foldede. If he remembers anything else he will get back to me but I'm not hopeful, sorry.

Or thanks so much for your help. So sad to here that. He made good saddles in his time. It's a shame no one had followed it on. Thank you for going out if your way for me x
