Inhand showing attire for piebald horse

So I’m really new to the showing world and I’m looking for some advice on what to wear to compliment my horse. I have a 2 nearly 3 year old piebald sports horse. In the previous year I wore a riding hat but I feel she’s a lot more confident and safe now so I think I will wear a normal hat .. does it matter type colour?? What colour of shirt/ trousers ? What’s the dress code for this sort of thing? Her legs are also white so should I be wearing dark trousers ?

I, too, would wear a riding hat. A local woman was killed a few years ago when showing in a youngstock class. As you say, dark trousers show off white legs best. I would team with a shirt and tweed waistcoat or jacket, depending on the weather.
 
I would wear dark trousers and secure footwear you can run in. I would wear a hard hat (with the tails sewn up, although I appreciate not everyone does this now), and dark or tweed jacket or waistcoat. Dark gloves and showing cane.

I used to show alot in hand I have light and dark cords from equitech according to the horse I'm showing, I have a selection of shirts and ties I either wear a tweed jacket or I have a navy waistcoat which looks just as smart, and I wear a navy velvet beagler riding hat.

I wear either short brown boots or i did have some brown trainers that looked OK they are not slippery to run in and brown gloves.

I know I say this often but the colour of your trousers don't matter. If the judge can't tell the difference between a humans legs and a horses then they shouldn't be judging.

Personally I hate this new trend for brightly Coloured skinny jeans with either country boots or boat shoes. It looks stupid and garish.

Women also do not wear flat caps. They are not traditionally a women's hat so I have no idea why so many people wear them.

A hard hat in a youngstock class is a very sensible choice. Whilst you might trust yours to the moon and back its everyone else's that could be the problem.

I prefer more sturdy boots. I’ve had a couple of near misses with jodhpur boots, which usually have poor tread. One time the pony landed on my foot and the boot came off! I just kept running and retrieved it at the end, but always wore boots with laces after that 😂
 
Yes agree jod boots not really designed for running. My in hand fail was tripping over and face planting on a lap of honour.

I lead up at the races in walking boots. Much comfier than any joddy boots on the market for the miles we walk.

My joddy boots for showing are on their 20th season. They have done inhand and ridden over the years and are still going strong.
 
Agree with wearing a hard hat. Saw a very close incident at the last show I went to where someone else's horse was very close to kicking another handler in the head. She wasn't even too close, the horse backed up. I always wear my velvet hard hat.

For you a tweed jacket and tie. Trousers can be any smart colour - I find charity shops and ebay are great for picking up trousers cheaply. Shirt can also be any smart colour, plain white is popular now but yellow and blue also used to be popular in the past. Brown gloves, some people don't wear gloves but I prefer to personally.
