OK, posted this in comp riders as well as here.

I would like to take Viento to a show or 2 later this year, purely to get him out and about. Not really into showing but would like to have a change.

Trouble is, I dont know what he could do. So, here is a photo, any ideas? ( I dont really want to pull his mane)

Sorry can't help with the showing question just wanted to say what a stunning horse!! He has gorgeous big eyes

what type is he?

He is very eye catching and a superb colour. I would have thought one of the Foreign Breed classes would be suitable? They do in hand and ridden versions of these (I am assuming he is foreign)

Ooh how lovely!

You could try open in-hand, Riding club horse (small jump) I'm not an expert but he might be suitable for a Riding Horse or Ridden Hack?

He looks VERY well put together and that plait really suits him. Not sure if you wouldn't be allowed it though and would have to go for the other type?

Sorry not a lot of help but he is gorgeous!

There are a few in hand sportshorse classes too - where they are shown "on the triangle" and they are looking for young, athletic types....suit him down to the ground, IMHO.

Gorgeous horse.

You shouldn't have to pull his mane as like Arabs they can be shown long or plaited the way you have done. The only thing I will say is that when you plait his mane make sure is tight to the base of the hairs (i.e. pull it tight each time you add hair) so that way it looks more like a typical plait. Hope this helps

what a lovely sort he is - i again agree that he should be plaited in the traditional manner - he would do well in riding horse type or sport horse, good luck,

We take our Andies in the foreign breeds classes . More and more local shows have these classes and so far the boys are doing quite well in them.

Good luck, does this mean you are keeping him? Yay

Thanks! With regards to plaiting, he is spanish and his mane is REALLY long! So I only have 2 choices; running or latice.

Thank you. Not heard of those classes, but I have been out of it for such along time.

As for selling him, mum thinks I am putting on too much pressure. So have agreed with OH to comoete over the next few months and give him a chance. After all, I havent competed since Aug last year.
