Inhand veteran

I would use a nice flat cavesson double/pelham bridle as he is of riding age and this is more correct. I hate in-hand bridles on anything other than stallions, they never do justice to the animals head.
 
I think a white halter is also acceptable for a sec D (unless it is a stallion). You should turn out according to type for a veteran class.

Didn't see it was a section D! Or this! My bad. Although saying this we do alot of the SSDL classes and not seen a white halter on a native in our classes yet! All been differing variations of in-hand bridles, ridden bridles (doubles) velvet browbands on none plaited animals and even a blue headcollar in an olympia qualifier...
