If a horse is being sold as a broodmare due to an injury. What sorts of things would I need to ask the seller? I’m assuming there’s no point having a vetting since she’s only sound in walk? She’s had a couple of foals since her injury and always foaled well.

If it's to breed foals using her genetics then I would want to be 100% sure that the 'injury' was either an accidental/external type injury, or if it were a soft tissue/orthopedic injury I would want to be sure that the mare had stayed sound for a number of years in decent work. Otherwise the horse has no merit being bred from directly.

I'd also evaluate the extent of current lameness, how comfortable the mare is in latter stages of pregnancy etc.

id never buy a broodmare with an injury, unless i knew the seller /scenario in which the injury happened. Purely because i dont trust a word anyone says. People just seem to think, oh no mare injured lets advertise as a broodmare and get some money back off her.

If this mare is something special, then id ask for the vet records/history. Then ask a vet you trust to look at her and the records.
