Following yesterday's post about Jake the ChihuahuaXJRT, we went to visit him a the vet this morning and took some photographs. Unfortunately, due to being overwhelmed by emergencies, Jake's operation had to be postponed until tomorrow, but at least he's being well cared for now! Both a friend and a woman whose horses I look after are contributing towards the vet fees and I have two possible homes lined up for the little chap when he's up and running again!

oh bless him, poor little soul, you really should get the vet to report it. hope he pulls through the op fine and finds a great home... add me to the list of people who'll have him if you get stuck. (got 4 very friendly jrts already).

Poor little thing. He looks so sweet too. Can't imagine how much pain he must have been in when it was done. Hope it all turns out okay and he ends up with a fab home.

Mandy, I must PM you to see how things are going for you!

I was so angry about this little dog that when I got him to the vet, I burst into tears! Felt SOOO stupid! Thing is, the guy who left him with me last night, on the end of a bit of baling twine, told me (when I agreed to find a new home for him) that it wasn't much, just a scar down his face!!!!!

Poor little thing

I hope the surgery goes well. My lab had her eye removed just after Christmas and she flew through the surgery and healing time. Hope the same is true for this little guy xx

Having read your previous post - I agree about the reporting (via the vet as suggested).

What an appalling injury for that person to have left unattended........

I actually wouldn't have been too happy with the vets for postponing the surgery either. I would consider that an emergency as well.

Oh the pain that little dog must be in! We had a JRT, Wurzel, who was like no other. She had various eye problems and ended up having them both removed, about six months apart, and she was absolutely fine afterwards. People who didn't know she was blind rarely realised, as she navigated by smell and sound. I am sure you will easily rehome him, he is a little sweetie. I would suggest you make sure the new owner pays for the op. I believe it is very important that people pay for dogs; it shows a degree of commitment. I am sure anyone who knew your situation would offer anyway.

OMG! Poor little mite.....

At the end of the day at least you have him now and he is being sorted...... need to look on the bright side now that he will be going to a good home.....

As for him! well I am sure you will do whats right but in a way that doesnt make it difficult for you...

Good luck

xx

OMG is that his eye or a hugh cut kind of around it. I am sitting here with bloody tears in my eyes - at work! How could people be so desperatly cruel - i dont get it. Thank goodness for you that's all I can say for taking this little man in. Good God

I hope the op goes well, well done for taking the little lad one!

Doesn't look like something inflicted by a badger to be honest.

Get well soon titch!!

Omg that is hideous the pain that poor little baby must have been in, well done you for taking him on, sending him lots of (((((hugs)))))

Holy crap that poor little man! I'm not even sure what we're looking at there? Is that brown bit his eyelid? Yuk that man wants a good pasting.

Interesting what you say in that it wasn't a badger. I'm contacting the local dog warden asking them NOT to do anything immediately, just putting them in the picture. (I don't want to be the one who snitches on him, if you know what I mean!).

Went to see the little lad tonight at the vet - he was still too sleepy to bring home but I'll post some "post-op" photos of him tomorrow - he's SOOO sweet!!! Also, he's older that 18 months - they had to remove five grotty teeth and reckon he's 5 years plus.

My darling daughter(?!) has just sent a text to my pikey "friend" saying (bless her!!) "If you have any more dogs you want to get rid of, PLEASE give them to us".

What have I let myself in for???????????

No matter what you have done and are doing the right thing.... these sort of people should not have dogs but they do..... at least this way - these dogs can be properly cared for.....

Big hugs to you as you have done a very wonderful and brave thing.....

If this dog could talk I bet he would say "thank you"

You have done the right thing no matter how old the little fella is, he sounds like he's landed on his feet and well done for sticking by him.

If it was a badger he would almost definitely be injured around his muzzle (quite badly too, badgers are viscious animals) and he shows no sign of injury or scarring.

What has the vet said?
