I have a horse who suffered a sore on his hip last year due to becoming cast in his box. It has healed well but with scarring over the point of his hip. The problem is that the scar tissue is still very fragile and when he lies down overnight and rolls in his box he is constantly knocking it. Does anyone know of anything that will stop him lying on his side something like a sideways anticast roller? I am thinking i may have to sew a pillow into the side of his rug. Does anyone have any ideas? thanks

Have thought rubbing matting, I have some but I think its too hard I'd need to get the thick squasshy stuff for it to make any difference. Have already upped his bedding he has loads but when he wriggles about he still manages to bang it. Think I'm gonna have to put my sewing skills into action! what a nightmare! Thanks though.

I know its slightly off subject but anti cast rollers do more harm than good. Making backs extremely sore. I would sugest a deep bed of straw with big wide bankings to protect from the walls and help to prevent getting cast. same sort of problem happens with capped hocks from horses getting up and down on thin beds.
