This is quite a lengthy story, I apologise haha:)

Last night I went down to the field to check on my horses to find that our pony had had quite a nasty incident, although what with we are not sure. On one of his front lets he seemed to have caught it on the fencing and ripped quite a nasty chunk out that was about 10cm long and 3 or 4 wide, but it wasn't very deep, although there was rather a lot of blood. We cleaned it all up with Hot salt water, and bandaged it, then left him in the stable overnight. This morning we again went up and took the bandages off and again cleaned it all out applying an antibacterial jelly on top. Anyway, I went down about an hour ago to have a look at the injury and there seems to be a bit of area in the injury that has turned a creamy yellowy colour, although i'm not sure if it was there last night or this morning, but i hadn't noticed it until now. It's not covering a large area, only about 2cm high and 1cm across but it doesn't look to pleasent. Any suggestions on what it could be would be most appreciated!! thank you. x

there will be a discharge from a wound, my vet once told me for every 4 cells that is generated to repair an injury 3 of those will be shed in the form of what i think you might be seeing. if the wound is as bad as what you say it is get in touch with your vet as you could need antibiotics and they will be able to advise wether it is best covered etc

Ouch sounds nasty, probably wise to get the vet if you are not sure about whats going on as woulds are much more likely to heal nicely and infection free if the vet can see them as early as poss.
My vet always tells me to imagine the wound on me, and think about whether I'd get medical help with it or not then!

Thank you for your help!! getting the vet out this morning as it doesn't look very nice and the pony is feeling very sorry for himself! thank you again. x
