Three weeks ago I had the vet check a sarcoid near my mare's udder, plus a couple of small lumps on her inner thigh area. He said not to worry at present; if they became a problem he would get me some ointment costing £134.
Two weeks ago, when the flies became more active, I kept reminding the children to smother the area in citronella, as she gets quite sweaty around there.
Within a few days the sarcoid was looking very sorry for itself - dry and shrinking. And now it's gone - just shrivelled and dropped off! The two tiny ones are still there, but I don't think much of their chances.

My mare has a big sarcoid on the inside of her back leg which appeared last Summer. Was it just citronella oil you put on or a horsey fly gel containing it?

Good for you by the way saving yourself £134!

There are several essential oils commonly used for sarcoid treatment because of their antiviral properties, so this doesn't surprise me and is a great result for you OP.
