Congratulations to Inonothing -- another British bred horse (apparently TB) wins Badminton:-) :-) But no breeding listed in FEI records and i can't find out anything about his sire Basildon Bond? Anyone heard of him?

These quotes from breeder and co-owner, Mrs Jenny Waaler, are intended with no disrespect to Inonothing who has become one of the most consistent Event horses currently competing. - If you know someone who has connections to Mrs Jenny Waaler then as his breeder she should be able to help with his background?

here you go the a photo of the winning horse.

Except there is no confirmation anywhere that this is the correct breeding for Inonothing being a full TB you would expect Weatherby to have a record & they dont. As another poster has already shown the only Basildon Bond reg is a female. Out of interest when I looked at sporthorse database this morning there was no breeding shown for Basildon Bond then after Ciss's post went on this pm & it now shows Hubble Bubble, but there is no evidence of this being correct.

Hubble bubble was a prolific sire and it is suprising not to be able to find out more about his progeny

Must agree totally here. It is the lack of verified breeding in FEI lists that is so frustrating. Actually I have since found out that he was purchased by his current owner as a foal which should make clearing up the mystery a bit easier. But thanks everyone for their help anyway :-)

The horse Basildon Bond/Basil Bond was listed in the British Horse Data Base Book 1998.
This horse if it is the correct one was listed as being by Hubble Bubble. I think Hubble Bubble stod at stud in Dyfed at about that time.
Basildon Bond/Basil Bond had a registration number with BHD, it was 12060, he had accumulated 72 BHS Dressage points, 0 BHS HT points and 0 BSJA winnings by 1998. Could not find him in 1999 or 2000.
Perhaps Weatherbys can help with his breeding details as they took over the BHD records.
As mentioned earlier the only TB registered Basildon Bond is the filly in GSB Vol. 38 p.493.

Still no clearer BE listing has him as a gelding

Silver Sekeeta is listed with Weatherby as dam unknown but as you can see she has an unnamed colt by Hubble Bubble in 1988 which matches up with the BE results for Basildon Bond. The BE results has him as the sire for Inonothing ex of a mare called Cassie which matches with Sporthorse Database

its extremely dissappointing that in this day and age a horse can spring up without any pedigree details. The Germans, Dutch, French & Belgiums keep meticulous studbook records and that is why they dominate sport horse breeding in the world. I wish that our dam British & Irish breeders would catch a wake up and realise that this is the most important aspect of breeding sports horses!!!

surely the FEI should demand pedigree details upon registration?

Jenny Waaler must have complete pedigree details?

You can see how rubbish we are at keeping correct data just look at NED. There are 1000's of horses out there on the TB & NTR reg that are unnamed, & a even more whose birth was never even reg with a breed society! Parentage lost for no good reason, except laziness and/or lack of interest/money in registering the animal.

My mare's dam had her name changed three times, so her successful offspring are listed under three different dams in NED. Such a shame as although I know this, I as the breeder of my mare's foals can not direct people to official records showing how good the grand dam of my foals was.

If you contact Team Tapner - http://www.tapnereventing.com/page3.htm
then I'm sure that they would either know themselves, or put you in touch with his owners, Jenny and Claus Waaler, to find out accurate details of his pedigree.

Paul Tapner when interviewed after Badminton said that the horse had been called "Spinhead" by previous riders because of his behaviour, and at one point he was very close to handing him back to Jenny!
