Poor Inonothing and Paul Tapner were going brilliantly up until that point.

This was taken from his FB page -

Inonothing was retired on xc at fence 13 after being clear and on time up to that point, unfortunately he has sustained a fracture to a bone in his stiffle joint, he has been treated by the vets and is now comfortable in his stable. Well done to Paul on recognising the problem and retiring of his own accord.

Here's hoping he makes a speedy recovery!

I bet Paul will wish he got off him quicker now, and didnt put him over that last fence..... :(

Not that I think he did anything wrong - the horse wasn't blatantly lame and you wouldnt want to pull up at WEG without being 100% certain of a problem - but looking back at the footage, I'll bet he'll be wishing he'd got straight off him :( Hope he recovers quickly - what a rotten end to such a fantastic year for them both :(

Poor things, both of them! Such bad luck!

My horse has had this same injury though (and actually had to have bone fragments removed) was sound after the op and it has left no scar or anything! So hopefully Inonothing will make a full recovery!
He had to be retired though due to the three months box rest exacerbating what was before very mild bog spavin... :(

I saw the horse being loaded into the trailer and it was not particularly lame in walk. And in fact was being walked off by one of the stewards which i could see from where i was so I doubt that in between fence eleven which was the one he hit and twelve which he jumped that anybody could have felt anything wrong considering the landing and approach was steeply downhill. I am sure Paul does wish he pulled up quicker but I do not believe he could possibly have noticed sooner than he did to be honest.

They can limp a few strides on and off after a bit of a clonk to a fetlock so although we were all jumping up and down from our bird's eye view, Paul did what he thought was right, pulled up, walked, looked, saw nothing obvious tried again and feeling the horse to be OK attempted one more fence. I hope he isn't too hard on himself and Inonothing is soon back in work and competing. I really feel sorry for Paul.

I agree, I know I'd I was at WEG I wouldn't want to pull up for nothing, proves though horses are such tryers and I think inonothing would of kept going If asked too - such a good horse, get well soon x
