This started as two bites rubbed raw and he keeps re-rubbing area.

I washed in maleseb shampoo today and put flamazine cream on after?

Any suggestions?

He has more bites he’s rubbing / chewing raw. Mane fine. Two small blister rubs either side of top of tail.

I can’t really rug as now seems to make itching worse.

My horse rubbed an area where he had bites I washed it when I brought him in then when it was dry I sprayed it with silver spray everyday, it looked much better after a few days and the silver spray stops it getting infected by flies landing on the wound.

i would wash it clean, then bathe well in saline, dry and use aluspray, then saline in the evening and use antiseptic cream thick at night

cream at night aluspray in the day for a few days, then if settling i would just use aluspray on it and fly cream around the edges

I give my old cob antihistamines for bites as a rule. It takes the itch out of them and gives the rub time to heal.

We always have a supply of antihistamine cream and tablets this time of year as he's prone to bites and is a serial itcher.

Thanks, that is where I started about 2 weeks ago with the first pair of bites. I washed, let dry, silver sprayed, and left, looked great for next 48 hours, then he rubbed it raw again. I have a slight question about this horse and silver spray, and other past scrape wounds have become irritated after using it in the past too (but not sure).

I use it a lot on things as it's one of the only things that one of mine is ok with his allergic to so much stuff but I suppose some horses react to different stuff.

Thanks, I have ordered 300 antihistamine tablets and some Hydrocortisone Cream steroid cream to hopefully lessen itch

It isnt definitive, but it is maybe 3rd time he has had a minor wound, I have cleaned and silver sprayed and it has become irritated. Sometimes it does seem to be fine, so might not be the spray, but its definitely been rubbed off raw skin a few times wiht these bites.
