Hi all

We have a welsh gelding who's very insecure when ridden. He is very clingy to the mares he's hacking out with and tries and sticks right by their sides.

If they are taken out the field/off the yard he stands and calls even if there are other horses in the field/on the yard with him.

Has anyone experienced this before and if so what can we do to help him and get him out of this habit?

He's kept on a livery yard and in a field with our 4 others, he's ok in the field - if they are all out together he doesn't bother with the mares or the other horses.

The other day we rode out for about 2 hours and he was just out with my filly, they both come down to the gate when we brought the two out and were there as we rode out the yard (the field is opposite the yard entrance), when we came back Sox was still standing at the gate waiting and calling but my filly had gone back up the field and was eating the grass. None of the horses call back to him either but he keeps calling.
