I know when tacking up etc you must do it on the left of a horse because its th Inside Side. What so special about the left side compared to the right side? Do they have larger vision on the left than the right?

Thanks to any comments

Someone once told me that we mount on the left because warriors going into battle would carry their sword across the body with the point downwards and to the left (as more people are right-handed and that would be the easiest position to pull the sword out of the scabbard quickly) so if they had mounted on the right it would have got in the way. Don't know if this is true, I thought it was interesting. I guess leading on the left side would make sense from the point of view of most people being right-handed too. Far as I know their vision is usually the same on both sides.

Cool Thanks for that, Will bare that in mind

2K85 is correct re the warriors. It is actually thought these days that it is a good ide to be able to do most things from both the near and the off side.
