OMG went home at lunch and was watching para dressage on Horse & country! its amazing. i have no clue how they do it and i -a full able person, cant!!! they must have such passion and determination. one of the girls i saw had no arms and had reins attached to each stirrup and a whip on one stirrup and then another set of reins held in ther mouth! and it was lovely dressage!!!!

OMG !!!

I was just about to post the same thing - !!!!

The programme truly highlights why we all love horses so much - when you get one that you bond with and click with - the team that you both create is amazing!

It just goes to show that if you really want to ride and be with horses you can!!!

Defo an inspiration - even my non horsey OH was amazed - he even commented 'I bet your pony would be good looking after and wotrking with a disabled person to do that' to which I was very chuffed and made me realise how lucky I am to have a horse and be healthy!!

I was watching that last night - amazing stuff

I know a girl near me who is part of the Para Squad - i must say it is truly amazing and they have such determination and guts !!

I love reading there stories of how they got into it and coping with a lot of things that im sure we all take for granted !!

i just couldnt get over it. like you said browbrow, the bond they have must be so amazing but i bet its a tough journey getting that training and bond together! i feel so humble and so i went to stables before going back to work and had a hug with my dippy mare who was flat out asleep on floor! lol

I also watched it last night. It was very imspirational and made me think to my self not to give up so easily in the future. They are truly gifted people and i have the up most respect for all of them to over come there problems and be great riders.

Yeah I saw it too (well most of it coz I was also watching Heros at the same time for the first 45mins) I sat there gobsmacked at how easy they made it look - so unfair! Its a real credit to them and their bond with their horse.

Can I just ask though, how come so many didnt have stirrups

I know - its amazing how they get on a ride - I know we have had the odd post on here about people having illness's and not being able to ride (or so they have thought) but it just goes to show that determination gets you a long way - the woman with MS on the grey was good !! and as mentioned, the lady who held the reins in her mouth and the people with NO arms!! Have you all tried riding/lunging with your arms crossed in lessons? God its awful!!

I like the big leggy bay best - I think the rider was called Simone? He had so much presence and looked like he was enjoying himself - reminded me of an old fashioned hunter.

Its incredebly inspirational isn't it? I watched it last night when I was in a bad mood with myself over my ride earlier in the day. I had been stuggling with a lack of skill - all me, my mare is lovely. Anyway watching the Para riders helped me to 'get a grip'. If they can just get on with it, then I have no place winging!

Great to see it on TV too. It shows us so much about aids and communication being a broader church than we usually think

i was watching it before when i found out i had this channel! lol. it didnt click that it was "para dressage" so i was wondering why she had the reins in her mouth, but then i saw she had no arms and i am inspired! they must have such determination!!
it is also nice to see it on tv, it proves that those less able people shouldnt be discriminated against as they can do as much as we can!
it is truly amazing!
